I'm sitting here waiting to be naked.
I'm sitting here waiting to be naked. In my work, photography has two positions. The first position is the moment when I have a precise vision in my head and I vividly imagine how the photos will look and how the subject will connect with the form. For me, the finished images emerge, prints of light that I perceive as solid wholes. The materialization of my thoughts, trying to give real form to an indescribable feeling. The second position consists of perceiving photography purely as a tool. A scoop that I use to pick up the pieces of a puzzle. I spear one image after another on a stick. Now I have photographs that capture objects, but I still perceive them as raw material that needs to be worked with further. I dematerialize. For me, there is also a form of an intermediate state between these two positions. Photography itself constantly oscillates between material and immaterial forms, and for me this resonance also evokes my own existential state. I feel as if I have become transparent, and after a while I feel my existence so vividly again, and I sense the earth magnetically pulling me back with each step. I walk around and I dress up. Every piece of clothing in my closet is my protective layer that I treasure and guard. The morning ritual of choosing what to wear defines the day. I dematerialize my clothes as artifacts that underscore my being. I take pictures on my phone, it's awfully fast, I don't have to think about exposure. I collect images as if I were taking notes to be processed. They're just algorithmically calculated clusters of information. They're prints of the body and the photographic medium. I use Photoshop to create the final images from each image. Two basic steps. Object selection tool, delete. The program itself will strip me. At night, before I go to bed and take off the skins, I take a moment to realize my natural nudity. But now I have no control over the process. I sit and wait to be naked. The sheet as a background, representing my body, serves the artificial intelligence to calculate the empty space and create an imprint. Nudum sui. Something from nothing and nothing brought to life. The installation underlines the re-materialisation. A light image projected onto the mattress imprints itself on its inanimate shell. Thus, information is materialized and an object is created. The message of my identity comes to life.
